Seventy four year-old Frank Donald Thomas, of Liberty, was arrested on Sept. 27 and charged with reckless endangerment and aggravated assault. His bond was set at $50,000, and he will appear in court Oct. 9.
Thomas’ charges come after Central Dispatch received a call in reference to Frank Thomas who was in a red Chevy Avalanche chasing a male subject in a red Dodge pick-up truck on Highway 56 at a speed of over 100 miles per hour. The victim also said Thomas was pointing a gun out the window at him. A deputy observed Thomas’ vehicle behind the caller, and a witness also stated that he was ran off the road by a red Dodge that had a red Avalanche behind it. When stopped, Thomas told the detective he was following the victim because he wanted to get his hands on him because of something the man had done in the past. A revolver was also found inside Thomas’ truck with three live rounds and three spent rounds inside it.
Tara Jane Summers, 36, of West Broad Street, Smithville was arrested on Sept. 23 and charged with reckless endangerment. Her bond is set at $100,000 and will appear in court Oct. 2.
The charge comes after Summers pulled up in front of the DeKalb Jail on Sept. 17 and signaled for a detective to come to her vehicle. Once at her vehicle, the detective observed two small children in the back floor board and a 12-gauge shotgun in Summers’ lap. She stated to the detective that her parents had been murdered, and people were chasing and trying to kill her. When asked to hand over the gun, she refused and began pointing it out the window at passing vehicles. The weapon had to be taken by force where it was found to be loaded with three live rounds.
James Allen Hesson, 37, of Toad road arrest on Sept. 25 for public intoxication, His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court Oct. 9
A deputy was dispatched to Toad Road in reference to a male banging on doors and setting a fire outside. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Hesson who was on a back porch. Hesson was unsteady on his feet and had a strong odor of alcohol. When asked what he was doing, he told the deputy he was burning junk to clean up the trailer park. The neighbors adviced he had been getting items off of their porches without permission and burning them. Hesson was also written a citation for simple possession for a schedule II drug, meth, after two small bags were found in a small container on his person.
Twenty three year-old Daniel Trey Hamilton of South Mountain Street Smithville has been charged with assault while incarcerated. His bond was set at $2,500 and has a court date of Oct. 9.
On Sept. 28, Hamilton was covering the camera in the cell and was instructed by correctional officers not to do so. After being asked repeatedly to stop, he continued to refuse. Two correctional officers went to the cell and asked him to come out. After being asked several more times, the correctional officers went into the cell and escorted him out. When touched on the arm by one of the correctional officers, Hamilton became aggressive and assaulted one of the correctional officers by head-butting him in the eye.
Franklin Ray Rigsby, 37, of Smithtown Road, McMinnville was arrested on Sept. 25 for driving under the influence second-offense. His bond was set at $3,000, and he is to appear in court Oct. 16.
On Sept. 25 while patrolling on Hwy. 70 a deputy observed a red Nissan crossing the middle line. After conducting a traffic stop, the deputy noticed a strong odor of alcohol on Rigsby and his eyes were glossy. He agreed to do field sobriety tasks which he did poorly. He admitted to the officer that he had been drinking beer. He was also written citations for driving on revoked license and driving on roadway lane for traffic. A computer check revealed license were revoked previously for DUI.
Twenty five year-old John David Hankins of Driftwood Lane, Mc Minnville was arrested on Sept. 26 and charged with driving under the influence. His bond was set at $2,500, and has a court date of Oct. 9.
A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 Honda Civic for expired tags. A computer check revealed the vehicle was not registered. Hankins had a strong odor alcohol, and admitted he had been drinking earlier in the night. He agreed to field sobriety task, where he did poorly.
Hankins was also written a citation for open container, expired tags, driving an unregistered vehicle and drug paraphernalia. A pipe used to smoke marijuana and an open bottle of rum was found in his vehicle.
Matthew Calhoun Carpenter, 28, of Cherry Street, Smithville was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, first-offense, and possession of a handgun while under the influence on Sept. 27. His bond was set at $4,000, and he has a court date of Oct. 9.
After a deputy observed a white truck leave its lane of travel the vehicle was stopped. Carpenter had a strong odor of alcohol and was unsteady on his feet. He admitted to have been drinking. He agreed to sobriety tasks and performed poorly on all. He also submitted a blood test. During an inventory of his vehicle, the deputy found a 356 Magnum handgun, loaded with seven bullets, in a green case in passenger floor board. He was also written a citation for failure to change his address on his driver’s license, failure to maintain his lane of travel and possession of drug paraphernalia after a pipe with residue in it, believed to be used to smoke marijuana was found.
Nineteen year-old Brittany Nicole Bogle of Coconut Ridge Road was arrested on Sept. 27 and charged with domestic assault. Her bond was set at $1,500 and she will appear in court Oct. 9.
A deputy was dispatched to a residence on Coconut Ridge Road for a domestic. The deputy spoke with Bogle and a male subject, her brother, who had gotten into an altercation after arguing over her brothers friends. Bogle told the deputy that her brother had gotten in her face and the second time she hit him in the face. The brother stated they had been in each other’s face then she started swinging causing a cut beside of the brother’s mouth. She was arrested for assault.
Brent Lawrence Averill, 32, of Ike Adcock Road was arrested on Sept. 28 and charged with driving on revoked license. His bond was set at $1,500, and he is to appear in court Oct. 15.
Averill was driving a 1999 black Mustang on Antioch Road and crashed the vehicle into a ditch about 20 yards east of Greenhill Road causing extensive damage to the front end. He was also written a citation for failure to produce proof of insurance.
Jennifer Nicole Miller, 28, of Smithville was written a citation on Sept. 23 for simple possession of a schedule VI drug after being stopped for a traffic violation. Miller gave consent to search her vehicle where the deputy found nine and one-half pills, believed to be Xanax, in Miller’s purse hidden in an Aleve bottle. Miller did admit the pills were hers and she did not have a prescription for the drugs.
