A jail inmate was charged with assaulting another prisoner on Oct. 30.
Joseph Stephen Audas, 29, faces assault charges after a correctional officer discovered an inmate with a black and bloody eye. After reviewing surveillance footage, the officer determined that Audas was the primary aggressor. Audas allegedly admitted to having thrown the first punch in a fight with the other inmate.
His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Nov. 6.
Harley Davidson Smith, 30, of Tullahoma and 34-year-old David Jason Lewis of Baxter were both charged with assault on Oct 13. Ray said Smith and Lewis grabbed and punched each other while both were inmates at the jail.
Bond for each is $1,500, and they will be in court on Nov. 20
Vanessa Renee Poss, 22, was charged with domestic assault on Oct 13. Ray said Poss punched her husband in the left eye, causing swelling and bruising. She allegedly punched him several times in the back of the head while he was holding their 18-month-old child in his arms. She then allegedly hit both of her husband's trucks with an axe, shattering the windshields and passenger side windows.
Her bond was set at $2,500 and she will appear in court on Nov. 6.
52 year old Richard Chapman, 52, was charged with aggravated assault on Oct. 15.
The sheriff said a deputy responding to a physical domestic complaint on Oakley Hollow Road spoke with a woman who said that Chapman punched her in the face and tried to choke her. She allegedly had a bloody nose, blood on her cheek and lip, and handprints on her throat. Chapman had scratches on his left arm and the left side of his stomach, which appeared to be defensive injuries.
His bond was set at $2,500 and he will appear in court on Nov. 6.
Frank Dame, 48, of Chattanooga was charged with driving under the influence on Nov. 1.
He was also cited for failure to maintain his lane of travel. Sheriff Patrick Ray said a deputy pulled Dame’s 2006 Nissan Xterra over for failing to maintain his lane of travel. The officer allegedly spoke with Dame and noticed that he had a strong odor of alcohol.
The deputy asked Dame to step out of the vehicle and found that he was unsteady on his feet. Ray said Dame submitted to, but performed poorly on, field sobriety tasks. He also consented to a blood test.
His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Nov. 13.
Reina Jose Diego, 36, of Monterey was charged with a third offense of driving on a revoked license on Oct. 21. She was also cited for violation of the light law and violation of the financial responsibility law (no insurance).
Ray said a deputy spotted a red car with a brake light out, and stopped the vehicle. The officer found the driver to be Diego. A computer check revealed that her license was revoked on August 15, 1998 for failure to file after an accident. Diego had previous driving on revoked offenses on March 31 and August 9, 2010.
Her bond was set at $4,500 and she will appear in court on Nov. 20.
Gregory Lynn Morris, 39, was charged with driving under the influence and driving on a revoked license on Oct. 24. The sheriff said a deputy received a call about a white truck that had crashed into a fence on Keltonburg Road. Upon arrival, the officer found Morris walking away from the scene of the accident. He spoke with Morris, who allegedly admitted to being the driver involved in the wreck.
Morris was reportedly unsteady on his feet and his speech was slurred. He admitted to having consumed a 24-ounce beer and then driving. He submitted to, but performed poorly on, field sobriety tasks. A computer check revealed that his driver's license were revoked on July 6, 2004 for a DUI. He was found to be driving on a revoked license on September 29, 2009.
His bond was set at $5,000, and he will appear in court on Nov. 20.
Sara Nicole South, 29, was charged with a second offense of driving on a revoked or suspended license on Oct. 15.
Ray said a sheriff's department detective saw South operating a motor vehicle on Short Mountain Highway. Having prior knowledge that South's license was revoked, the deputy stopped the vehicle.
A computer check apparently confirmed that her license was revoked for failure to file after an accident. The sheriff said she also has another case pending in court for the same offense.
Her bond was set at $2,500 and she will appear in court on Nov. 6.
Russell Alan Ross, 52, has been cited for simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The sheriff said Ross was stopped by a sheriff's department detective for possibly being intoxicated. A search of Ross allegedly revealed a baggie containing marijuana.
The detective reportedly found a pill bottle containing marijuana inside Ross' vehicle. Ross allegedly told the detective that he had a marijuana pipe in the front door of the vehicle. The pipe was found and recovered.
He will appear in court on Nov. 20.
45 year old Tina Gail Clark, 45, was cited for violation of the light law, violation of the financial responsibility law, and simple possession of a Schedule VI drug on Oct. 20. Ray said a deputy stopped a Jeep for a light law violation and spoke with the driver, Clark. She allegedly gave consent to search, and the officer found .6 grams of marijuana in her vehicle.
She reportedly admitted that the marijuana belonged to her. She will appear in court on Nov. 20.
Melissa Lawson Norris, 42, was is cited for violation of the light law, violation of the financial responsibility law, possession of drug paraphernalia, and simple possession of a Schedule VI drug on Oct. 21.
The sheriff said a deputy spotted a car with a light law violation and stopped the vehicle. He reportedly received permission to search from the driver, Norris. Ray said the deputy found 8.2 grams of marijuana and a pipe in Norris' purse. She will appear in court on Nov. 20.
