The sheriff’s department has picked up three more people named in sealed indictments last week.

Rachel Lucille Sprague, 41, of Toad Road, Dowelltown was arrested on June 3. He is charged with sale and delivery of a Schedule II drug (Hydrocodone) in a drug free zone. Her bond was set at $25,000.

Michael Austin Briley, 25, of Blue Springs Road was arrested on June 5. He is charged with sale and delivery of a Schedule II drug (methamphetamine) and sale and delivery of a Schedule II drug (Oxycodone). His bond was set at $75,000.

According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, officers from the sheriff’s department appeared before a special session of the DeKalb County Grand Jury on May 30, leaving with more than 40 sealed indictments, most of which were against drug offenders caught in an undercover investigation. "A variety of drugs were bought during this operation, including Xanax, Hydrocodone, Marijuana, Methamphetamine, Subutex, and others," Ray said.

"We tried to focus this operation on methamphetamine,” The sheriff said. “We had received information that methamphetamine has been coming up here from Georgia and not only into our county but also other places in the state. Some of the indictments were for sale and delivery in a drug free zone which is an area 1,000 feet of a school, park, library, and daycare.”

As of Monday, 33 defendants have been arrested.
