Timber value meeting set
timber w sm

Thinking about selling some timber but don’t know what it is worth or how to sell it?
The meeting held by the Upper Cumberland Forestry Association is designed just for you.
The UCFA will hold a short afternoon field day at the Hyder/Burks Ag. Pavilion Thursday afternoon, May 3, beginning at 5:30.
Our first speaker will be Adam Taylor, Associate Professor and Forest Products Extension Specialist with UT Extension.
His topic will be “Tree Factors That Influence the Value of Your Timber.”
Most landowners have little information on what their timber is worth and what affects the value of a tree.
How big the tree is, the variety and defects in the log all affect the value.  This meeting will cover all of these plus give you the chance for a “hands on experience” in measuring logs, estimating board feet and recognizing defects.
A complimentary meal will be served after our first speaker, before we complete the hands on exercise.
Please RSVP by May 1, so we can plan for the meal.
We also welcome visitors with a desire for information on forest management resources and as an introduction as to “Who We Are.”
This program is open to all individuals regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, disability or veteran status.  The evening will be informative, interesting and free.  That is an offer that is hard to resist.
