A federal judge has set a May 20 trail date for the former head of the Upper Cumberland Development District (UCDD), her former assistant director, and the former UCDD board chairman.
Wendy Askins, Larry Webb, and Mike Foster were all indicted in September on federal charges related to the “Living the Dream” facility that former director Askins and Webb, her assistant, headed up under the UCDD umbrella.
Askins and Webb were indicted on charges including conspiracy, embezzlement, bank fraud and money laundering.
Dekalb County Mayor Mike Foster faces a single count of making a false statement to the UCDD board of directors. Foster's attorney reportedly told the judge that he expects to file a motion to have that charge dismissed.
A Putnam County grand jury indicted Askins on state charges related to the matter in October, including theft over $60,000, forgery and money laundering.
The federal trial is set for May 20 at 9 a.m. in courtroom 873 of the United States Courthouse at 801 Broadway, in Nashville.
