Three alleged burglars were caught in the act of pillaging a barn on Joins Road last week, according to the sheriff’s department.
Andy Joe Certain, 35, April Lee Hollingsworth, 34, and Kelly Lee Hollings-worth, 53, were all charged with burglary and theft of property over $1,000.
April Hollingsworth was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia after deputies reportedly found needles, straws and a spoon in her vehicle.
She allegedly admitted that the items, found while deputies conducted an inventory of the vehicle before it was towed, belonged to her.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, the trio took old and antique farm equipment valued at $1,500.
Deputies reportedly arrived at the scene while the theft was still in progress, and the stolen property was immediately recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
Bond for each of the three is set at $11,500 and they will all appear in court on Feb. 14.
Meanwhile, Christopher Justin Garrett, 22, was arrested on Feb. 4 and charged with evading arrest on Jan 18.
The sheriff said that Garrett was operating a motor vehicle on Highway 70 when a sheriff's department drug detective saw him driving erratically.
When the detective attempted to pull Garrett over, he allegedly refused to stop, turning onto Dale Ridge Road and traveling about three miles before pursuit was terminated.
Ray said Garrett's vehicle was recovered soon afterward, sitting in the middle of Carter Road in the Temperance Hall community.
Passengers in the vehicle with Garrett allegedly identified him as the driver.
His bond was set at $5,000.
David Ray Johnson, 50, was charged with unlawful possession of a Schedule III drug (Hydrocodone) for resale, unlawful possession of a Schedule IV drug (Xanax) for resale, and unlawful possession of a Schedule VI drug (marijuana) for resale on Feb. 8.
Johnson was also cited for speeding and for failure to maintain his lane of travel.
Sheriff Ray said that Johnson was stopped for speeding in a semi-truck by a sheriff's department drug detective.
The semi was reportedly clocked at 74 mph in a 55 mph zone.
According to the sheriff, the detective said the truck was weaving all over the roadway, and continued to travel for at least half a mile before pulling over.
The detective allegedly smelled the odor of marijuana and saw rolling papers in the passenger-side floor board of the truck.
Ray said the detective received consent to search, and found four oblong pills believed to be Hydrocodone in Johnson's left front pocket and a bottle that contained nine more in his right pocket.
According to the detective, more rolling papers were found on the ground beside the truck.
A search of the area allegedly revealed a large pill bottle containing two plastic bags with a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and eight blue pills thought to be Xanax.
His bond was set at $11,500 and he will appear in court on Feb. 28.
Christopher Shannon Mooneyham, 33, was charged with a second offense of driving under the influence and cited for driving on a revoked license on Feb. 6.
Ray said that a sheriff's department drug detective saw Mooneyham’s vehicle traveling in the middle of the roadway at 25 mph in a 40 mph zone on Broad Street in Smithville.
The pulled the vehicle over and found Mooneyham's speech to be slurred and slow and judged him to be unsteady on his feet.
He allegedly submitted to, but performed poorly on, several field sobriety tasks.
Ray said Mooneyham submitted to a blood alcohol drug test.
His license was reportedly revoked on a March, 2009 DUI offense.
His bond was set at $3,000, and he will appear in court on Feb. 14.
