The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department reports that two arrests have been made in recent thefts in DeKalb County.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, 23 year-old Richard Spencer Raby of Brush Creek is charged with two counts of burglary and one count of theft of property over $1,000.
Ray reports that Raby entered a building on Oakley Road without the owner's consent on June 11.
He allegedly took two Suzuki motorcycles valued at over $1,000 from the premises.
The motorcycles were reportedly recovered at Raby's Smith County home.
Raby allegedly returned to the same property two days later and entered a another building owned by the same victim.
According to the sheriff, the victim saw Raby exit the building, and identified him later in a photo lineup.
Raby was arrested on Thursday, June 16.
His bond totals $11,000 and he will be in court on August 4.
Meanwhile, Justin Dale Estes, 20, has been charged with theft of property over $500.
Estes is accused of taking two hot water heaters from a residence on Judkins Lane valued at $700 on June 16 without the owner's consent.
He then allegedly exchanged them for cash at a local recycler.
Estes allegedly admitted to committing the theft.
He was arrested on Friday, June 24.
His bond is $3,500 and he will be in court on June 30.
The sheriff also reports that Ashley J. Ferrell was issued a citation on June 16 for having no operable headlights on his vehicle, and driving on a suspended license.
Ray reports that a deputy patrolling Highway 56 at aproximately 11:30 p.m. spotted a vehicle driving without headlights.
The deputy allegedly stopped the vehicle and found Ferrell behind the wheel.
A computer check reportedly revealed that his license was suspended for failure to satisfy a citation.
His court date is August 10.
Jason Wayne Connell of Nashville, 30, was issued a citation on June 20 for driving on a suspended license.
Ray reports that an officer stopped Connell for questioning on a trespassing complaint.
A computer check of his drivers license revealed that they were suspended in Florida.
His court date is July 28.
Sean William Cavanaugh, 45, was charged with a second offense of driving under the influence on June 25.
According to the sheriff, a deputy was called by another officer working a wreck on Sparta Highway to check on a possible intoxicated driver in the area.
The deputy made contact with Cavanaugh and detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person.
Cavanaugh submitted to several field sobriety tasks and performed poorly on them. He refused to submit to a blood alcohol test.
His bond is $3,000 and his court date is August 4.
Meanwhile, 25 year-old Caleb Rigsby was issued a citation on June 26 for driving on a suspended license and failure to yield.
Ray reports that a deputy patrolling Highway 70 on June 26 at 9:55 p.m. witnessed a vehicle pulling out at the intersection of Old Snow Hill Road and Highway 70.
According to the deputy the vehicle failed to yield to on-coming traffic.
The automobile was pulled over and the deputy made contact Rigsby, who was driving the vehicle.
A computer check revealed that his license was suspended in Warren County.
His court date is August 10.
