A man has been arrested after allegedly breaking into the home of his ex-wife and assaulting her.
According to DeKalb County Sheriff Patrick Ray, Thomas Thomason, 50, of Smithville is charged with aggravated burglary and domestic assault after he entered his former wife’s home after breaking a door chain and picking a lock.
Once inside, Thomason allegedly hit his ex-wife in the head, causing her to fall into a plastic crate. Deputies investigating found visible marks on her body and damage consistent with forced entry into the home.
His bond is $15,000 and his court date is Thursday, Dec. 14.
• Another Smithville man was also charged in a separate incident with assaulting his girlfriend.
According to the sheriff, Mark Anthony Mason, Jr., 45, was arrested after officers responded to a domestic abuse complaint at Kings Court in Smithville. Upon arrival, police spoke with a woman who said a friend was visiting when Mason came in through the back door, grabbed her by the hair and arm and threw her out the door. She landed on the porch, leaving red marks on her arm.
Mason’s bond was set at $3,500 and his court date is Thursday, Nov. 30.
