Two charged with evading arrest

City police arrested Shannon E Taylor, 39, on July 1 for resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest or search. 

 

Taylor resisted stop, frisk, halt, arrest or search by refusing to comply with officers’ verbal command to not enter a relatives residence for fear that she would attempt to cause family member harm. She had to be physically restrained in order to gain her compliance. 

 

Her bond was set at $2,500, and he will appear in court on July 21.

 

Clay Andrew Bain, 24, was charged him with evading arrest on July 6. 

 

Police were reportedly dispatched to South College Street to investigate reports of a suspicious person, and officers made contact with Bain near the intersection of College and Bryant Streets. After being informed that the sheriff’s department had several active warrants on him, an officer informed Bain that he would have to go with him, Bain allegedly attempted to flee.  When told to stop, Bain continued to leave. Police caught him shortly afterward and took him into custody. 

 

His bond was set at $3,500, and he will appear in court on July 28.

 

Shawn Anthony Newhouse, 19, was cited for disorderly conduct on July 1. 

 

Police responded to Webb Street during the Fiddler's Jamboree, and discovered that Newhouse did engage in fighting, creating a hazardous and physically offensive condition for others, including children that were present. 

 

He will appear in court on July 21.

 

Michelle Lee Gurley, 39, was cited for shoplifting on July 1. 

 

Gurley was allegedly observed by Wal-Mart employees concealing items in her purse with the intention of depriving the store of its property.

 

She will appear in court on July 14.
