Sheriff's deputies arrested two men on Nov. 7 after they were allegedly found in a barn with a meth lab.

Terry Ray Barnes, 26, of McMinnville, and 32 year old Christopher Sam White were both charged with initiation of a process to manufacture methamphetamine. Sheriff Patrick Ray said a deputy received a call from Jefferson Road resident informing him that two men had been seen in a barn, and that an odd odor was emanating from the structure.

Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the woman who apparently owned the property, and was told that she had seen the two men enter the barn, and that an odor was coming from the building that was making her sick. The deputy received permission to search the barn and allegedly found the two men, Barnes and White, asleep inside.

Ray said the officer discovered a meth lab consisting of five plastic funnels, a Coleman cook top stove, Coleman butane fuel, digital scales, Coleman fuel, plastic tubing, a Pyrex dish, large Mason jar, 50 coffee filters, Crystal Drano, lithium batteries, ph test strips, and an electric pill grinder, a metal plate containing a white powdery substance, and a bottle containing four ounces of muriatic acid as well. Barnes and White were awakened and placed under arrest. A check reportedly revealed that White had been convicted earlier this year in another meth case.

Bond for both men was set at $100,000 and they will appear in court on Dec. 11.

Meanwhile, 37 year old James Allen Hesson was charged with a second offense of driving on a revoked license on Nov. 5. The sheriff said a deputy spotted Hesson operating a vehicle on highway 56. Having prior knowledge that Hesson's license was revoked, the officer stopped the car. A check confirmed that Hesson's license had been revoked for failure to satisfy a citation in 2010. Ray said Hesson also had a prior driving on revoked charge in 2013.

His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Dec. 11.

Dustin Lee Moss, 29, was charged with driving under the influence and cited for failure to maintain his lane of travel and simple possession of marijuana (.25 ounces) on Nov. 16.

Sheriff Ray said a deputy stopped a white Ford Crown Victoria for failing to maintain its lane of travel and found Moss to be the driver. The officer reportedly detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside, and asked Moss if he had been drinking. Moss allegedly replied "yes I have."

Ray said Moss submitted to, but performed poorly on, field sobriety tasks. As Moss was getting out of the vehicle, the officer allegedly noticed a small bag of marijuana in plain view next to the driver seat. He was placed under arrest for DUI and taken to the hospital for a blood test, then transported to the sheriff's department for booking.

His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Dec. 11.
