Another incumbent school board member and an incumbent Smithville alderman have qualified for the August election.
Sixth-district School Board Member Doug Stephens and incumbent Smithville Alderman Danny Washer have retuned completed petitions to run. Ronald D. Stanley of Anthony Avenue has also picked up a petition to run for Smithville Alderman.
Three school board members will be chosen on August 4. The seats in the fourth, fifth and fixth districts will be up for grabs. The fifth and sixth district terms are for four years, and the Fourth District winner will fill an unexpired two year term.
Others who have picked up qualifying petitions in the school board race are Kate Miller (Fourth District), Barry Mabe (Fifth District) and W.J. (Dub) Evins, III (Fifth District-petition returned)
Three aldermen will be chosen on August 4 for four year terms. Wesley Nokes, Shawn Jacobs, Josh Miller (petition returned), Danny Washer and Gary Durham have picked up qualifying petitions.
Meanwhile, more than 700 DeKalb County voters had taken advantage of early voting the Presidential Preference and DeKalb County Democratic Primaries as of Monday.
Early voting concluded yesterday.
Early voting numbers so far break down like this:

• In Person - 710
• Absentee - 47
• Republican Primary - 480
• Democratic Primaries – 277
The primary election day is Tuesday, March 1. Polls in DeKalb County will be open from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
