A near head-on collision on Highway 70 East Monday morning resulted in two people being injured and one arrested. Authorities said that Bryan Gibbs, 31, of Alexandria was traveling east near Potters Home Center in a 1994 GMC pickup when he crossed the highway into oncoming traffic and struck 36-year-old Sommer Britt of Smithville’s westbound 2016 Honda Pilot. Britt was transported to St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital by DeKalb EMS, and was treated and released.
