Seven people were involved in a two vehicle accident Friday evening on Highway 83.
Trooper Bobby Johnson of the Tennessee Highway Patrol told the Smithville Review that 71 year-old Rodney Higham, 59-year old Janice Higham , and three juveniles were traveling west on Highway 83, New Home Road, in a 2005 Dodge Caravan when 23 year-old Cole Hawker, attempting to cross the highway from Dry Creek Road, pulled into their path with his 1999 Chevy S-10. Twenty-three year-old Brandi Kirby was a passenger in Hawker’s vehicle.
Officers with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department were on the scene along with DeKalb EMS.
Hawker and Kirby suffered from minor injuries and were taken to St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital by private vehicles.
Hawker was issued a citation for failure to Exercise Due Care.
