Hired this past week were Ken Lacy and Pete Ferguson. They will each make $1,000 a month for their work, which comes out to $24,000 a year. They will also be eligible for benefits.
The move means the city will have direct management of the course through its new hires. The city had previously leased the golf course and pool to Tony Poss but he left the lease this past August. Since that time, the course has been maintained by Riverwatch which operates a course elsewhere in DeKalb County. The city paid Riverwatch over $74,000 to ready the course for its planned April 1 opening.
The men were selected over a field of other applicants as aldermen felt they had the best credentials for the job. Their positions will come up for review in one year, the review based at least partially on what kind of the revenue the facility generates."
