A Gordonsville teen has been granted probation after entering a guilty plea to a lesser charge after being accused of inappropriate contact with a 14-year-old girl.
The teen, Jacory Watson Vaden entered a guilty plea in DeKalb County Circuit Court Friday to the lesser charge of attempted statutory rape and was granted an 11-month, 29-day judicial diversion. The diversion means his criminal record can be erased once he completes his probation. He was originally charged with felony statutory rape. He is also under a restraining order to keep away from the victim.
The indictment against the teen claimed that in July of last year he intentionally, knowingly or recklessly engaged in sexual penetration of the girl. The fact she was underage and more than four years his junior led to his indictment on the felony count.
