Three motorists escaped serious injury, and one was arrested in a two-car collision in the eastern part of the county Monday. Trooper Brandon Jackson of the Tennessee Highway Patrol told the Review that John Corey Vickers, 36, of Auburntown was traveling east in a 2000 Honda Accord on Highway 70 near Ragland Bottom when he crossed the dividing line and struck 48-year-old Tina Kessler’s westbound 2012 Chrysler 200. Kessler’s minor daughter was a passenger in the Chrysler. Kessler apparently tried to avoid the collision, but was struck in the driver’s side. The woman and her daughter were transported to the hospital by DeKalb EMS with non-life threatening injuries, while Vickers was arrested and taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and for a blood withdrawal. Vickers was charged with driving under the influence and issued citations for failure to exercise due care and for an expired plate.
