Vincent named principal at SES

Julie Vincent has been named the new principal at Smithville Elementary School.Vincent comes from Northside Elementary School, where she was assistant principal.Vincent, a Maine native, began her teaching career in DeKalb County in the special education department at Smithville Elementary teaching resource, and then moved to Northside Elementary, teaching third and fourth grades before being named assistant principal last year.Vincent is married to Darrin Vincent of bluegrass duo Dailey and Vincent. They have three children, Zachary, a senior at DCHS; Victoria, a sophomore,;and Chandler, an eighth-grader at DeKalb Middle School.Dr. Bill Tanner, SES principal for the last few years, will be re-assigned to another position.Meanwhile, Amanda Dakas will become the new assistant principal at DeKalb Middle School, and Beth Pafford will move to Northside Elementary as the new assistant principal.Dakas will move from Northside Elementary to DeKalb Middle and Pafford will go from Smithville Elementary to Northside.Dakas will take over from assistant principal Kathy Bryant, who is being moved from DeKalb Middle School to take the assistant principal position at DeKalb County High School.Pafford will replace Vincent as assistant principal at Northside.Karen Knowles remains assistant principal at Smithville Elementary.Patrick Cripps will become the new principal at DCHS, succeeding the retiring Kathy Hendrix.David Gash will be returning as assistant principal at the high school.
