A former employee of Walmart has been arrested and charged with theft after she was allegedly caught stealing from the store.According to Police Chief Randy Caplinger, Lisa Lee Ray, 37, was charged with one count of theft of property.While operating the cash register at the retail outlet on Sept. 20, Ray allegedly committed theft by changing prices and bagging merchandise without scanning it.She is under a $2,000 bond and will be in court on Oct. 13.She is no longer an employee of the store.Jeffery Lynn Sanders, 37, was charged with one count of vandalism over $500 and one count of vandalism over $1,000 after he allegedly broke a fire sprinkler head while incarcerated at the jail, causing the water head to break and water to spray all over his cell on Sept. 25.Then, on Sept. 26, authorities allege that Sanders was placed into a holding cell, and cracked a shatter-proof glass in a window causing over $1,000 in damage.Meanwhile, Sheriff Patrick Ray reports that 46-year-old Tonya Elaine Caldwell, and 87-year-old Velma McGuire were both charged with filing a false report after allegedly lying to deputies.The sheriff says that representatives from his department went to a residence on Cill Street on Sept. 25 to serve a warrant on Brittany Barnes.Caldwell and McGuire reportedly told the deputies that Barnes was not on the premises.As the deputies searched the residence, Brittany was seen climbing out a window. She was later found at the residence.Both women are under a $5,000 bond and will appear in court on Oct. 13.A Smithville man was arrested in Cannon County and charged with assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.Robert Lewis Judkins of Smithville allegedly pushed a Cannon County deputy on Sept. 22 while the deputy was attempting to gain entrance into a home on Short Mountain Highway .The deputy was reportedly escorting a representative of the Department of Children’s Services to the residence to conduct a welfare check.Judkins’ bond is $1,700, and he will appear in court in Cannon County on Oct. 4.The deputy did not report any injuries. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department reports that 39-year-old Don Diamond Groshon was charged with domestic assault on Sept. 18.His bond has been set at $15,000 and he will be in court on Oct. 6.According to the sheriff, Groshon put a handgun to his girlfriend's stomach.She allegedly had bruises on her arms, and the woman told authorities that Groshon has broken her ribs in the past.His bond is set at $15,000, and he will be in court on Oct. 6.Smithville city police say that Donna Overall, 42, was charged with criminal trespassing and theft under $500 on Sept. 24.Caplinger reports that a city officer responded to a residence on Snow Street to a complaint of an unwanted intruder in the home.The officer reportedly found Overall at the location.According to the chief, the woman who lives in the home reported to police that Overall came into the home while she was away and began picking up things.Overall was apparently still in the home when the woman who lives there returned.Overall is under a total bond of $6,500 and she will be in court on Oct. 13.The police chief reports that Melvin Lee Griffin was charged with assault, domestic assault, and vandalism on Sept. 23.Caplinger said that a city officer was called to a business on East Broad Street, where a woman had been assaulted by Griffin.Police say that the woman and Griffin drove into the parking lot of the business in separate vehicles.Griffin allegedly got out of his vehicle and assaulted the woman.He then reportedly followed her when she ran into the business to seek help.Police say that another vehicle in the parking lot received minor damage during the incident.When told by the operators of the business that the police were being called, Griffin left the premises.He was stopped by White County deputies at the county line, and was later taken into custody by police and charged in the case.Griffin is under a total bond of $9,000 and he will be in court on Oct. 13.The sheriff reports that 48-year-old Johnny Michael Howard of Sparta was charged with aggravated assault on Sept. 28.His bond is set at 40,000, and his bond court date will be on Oct. 6.Howard allegedly assaulted a female victim on billings road, cutting the side of her face and left hand.The woman received emergency treatment at the emergency room at DeKalb Community Hospital.City police say that 52-year-old Ramone Serano Ramone was charged with driving on a revoked license on Sept. 23.Caplinger reports that an officer was dispatched to Wade Street, where he encountered a woman who reported that she and Ramone had gotten into an argument at his residence on Main Street in Smithville.The woman allegedly told the policeman that she left the house and returned to her home on Wade Street.Ramone then reportedly showed up at the woman's home while police were there.A computer check revealed that his license had been revoked for a previous offense.Bond for Ramone is $1,500 and he will be in court on Oct. 6The sheriff reports that 31-year-old Joshua Lionel Jones was arrested and charged with burglary and theft of property over 1,000 for allegedly looting a barn on Dale Ridge on Sept. 19.According to Ray, Jones entered a barn on Dale Ridge with the intent to commit a felony.He allegedly stole scrap valued at over $1000 from the barn and sold it to a local scrap yard.Jones bond is set at $10,000, and his court date is Oct. 7.City police report that 24-year-old Robert Grady Cox has been charged with being a fugitive from justice on Sept. 16.The chief says that city police learned that Cox, wanted in Catoosa County, Georgia for probation violation, was staying at a residence on East Bryant Street.Police went there and picked him up.He is expected to be returned to Georgia.The sheriff’s department reports that 31-year-old James Travis Bouldin of McMinnville was charged with public intoxication on Sept, 28.His bond is set at $1,000, and he will be in court on Oct. 13.According to the sheriff, Bouldin was seen walking in the roadway on Highway.
