The sheriff’s department arrested a McMinnville man for DUI and reckless endangerment last week after he was allegedly found driving drunk in Alexandria with his five-year-old daughter in the vehicle.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, Eric Lee Linder, 37, was charged with reckless endangerment and a second offense of driving under the influence after a deputy was dispatched to the area of the Highway 70 intersection with Highway 53 in Alexandria to check out reports of a reckless driver in a Chevrolet Camaro. When the deputy spotted the vehicle crossing the center line and right shoulder of the road, he made a traffic stop and spoke with the driver.
The operator of the car proved to be Linder, who was allegedly found to have slurred speech and an odor of alcohol on his person. The sheriff said Linder performed poorly on field sobriety tasks and submitted to a blood test.
His bonds total $5,500 and he will appear in court on Nov. 5.
Authorities arrested another McMinnville resident, Zachary Patrick Greene, 33, for DUI on Oct. 1.
Greene was also cited for shoplifting, violation of the open container law, simple possession, and violation of the implied consent law.
Ray said a deputy dispatched to DeKalb Market to investigate reports of a suspicious man in the parking lot spoke with the Greene, who was found to be unsteady on his feet, to have slurred speech, and to be very nervous. While Greene reportedly told the lawman that someone in the parking lot was trying to fight him, no such person could be found.
While patting Greene down, the deputy allegedly found a small baggie containing a white pill believed to be Xanax, and an open container of vodka was reportedly found on the front passenger side seat of Greene's vehicle. The sheriff said Greene had an electric charging device taken from the store in his possession as well. Greene reportedly performed poorly on field sobriety tasks, and refused to submit to a blood test.
His bond was set at $1,500, and he will appear in court on Oct. 15.
