Webb to host program on DeKalb churches
DAC sign
DeKalb County Historian Tommy Webb will host another historical program to benefit the DeKalb Animal Coalition on April 16 at the county complex auditorium as a part of the "DAC Presents…" series of fundraisers. Webb will speak on the subject of "Churches in DeKalb County Then and Now" to help raise money for the coalition’s planned animal shelter, to be constructed behind Tenneco Automotive on Highway 56 in Smithville. Admission is $10.00 at the door, and all proceeds will benefit the DAC. Webb will cover the history of the first churches in DeKalb County, the difference in doctrine, camp meetings and where they were held, the shouting Methodist and foot washing Baptist churches that have died out.
