Wilkins chosen as Clinton delegate

DeKalb Countys delegates were Barbara Comfort, Joyce Poss, Tommy Webb, Jack Anderson, Pamela Anderson, Billie Ann Tubbs, Jordan Wilkins, Jerry Comfort and Jimmy Poss.

The chairman of the local Democratic Party has been chosen to go to Washington as a delegate for Hillary Clinton in July.

 

DeKalb Democratic Party Chairman Jordan Wilkins will attend the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in July as a Clinton delegate. Party officers, delegates and friends of the 6th district met in Cookeville on March 19 to select delegates to attend the convention.

 

Wilkins was elected as first male delegate for Clinton, and Leonard Steverson from Lebanon was elected as second male delegate. Bonnie Fussell from Portland was elected as first female delegate, and Pat Stanton from Lebanon was elected first female alternate.

 

Michelle Davis from Cookeville was elected to represent Senator Bernie Sanders as a delegate.

 

The local party held its Delegate Selection Convention at the DeKalb County Courthouse recently. Delegates were chosen to represent the DeKalb County Democratic Party at the district convention in Cookeville.

 

The local Dems were allowed as many as 16 delegates to the district convention. Four spots for men and four women for each presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, were open.

 

When the smoke cleared, Jack Barton, Joyce Hendrixson, and Pamela Jordan were named as delegates for Sanders. Joyce Poss, Barbara Comfort, Pamela Anderson, Billie Ann Tubbs, Jordan Wilkins, Jimmy Poss, Jack Anderson, and Jerry Comfort acted as delegates for Clinton.

 

County delegates then met in Cookeville to choose two men, one woman and one female alternate from the district to attend the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia this summer as Clinton Delegates. One female delegate for Sanders was chosen to attend the national convention. The number of delegates chosen for each candidate were based on the results of the recent Democratic primary election.
