Smithville-DeKalb County Chamber of Commerce Director Suzanne Williams was injured in a serious fall Thursday.

Friends and loved ones gathered for a prayer vigil for Smithville-DeKalb County Chamber of Commerce Director Suzanne Williams who was injured in a serious fall Thursday which crushed her larynx. At the time, she was attending a conference in Gatlinburg.
Williams was injured in a fall where her throat took the impact leaving her unable to breathe on her own.
Doctors had hoped the swelling would go down on its own, but had to perform a tracheotomy Monday afternoon. Williams' surgery was successful but she has a long road of recovery ahead.
According to her family, her stats are stable and there was no brain damage but they are praying for continued healing and strength for the long road of recovery ahead of her. They ask for continued prayers for her health and well-being.
The gathering opened with by music by Josh Isaac and prayer by Brother Isaac Grey, Butch Cook, Katherine Pack, Don Rigsby, Norene Puckett and the family of Suzanne Williams, including Shan and Emily Burklow. There was a reciting of the Lord’s Prayer, scripture and songs.
Additional activities of a crafts and cards table and DeKalb County Rocks is stashing “Good Vibes” rocks throughout the county.
Hosting the event were Jen Sherwood, Smithville-DeKalb County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, courthouse employees and DeKalb County officials, Williams past and present fans, admirers and believers in the power of prayer.
