Violet Tucker, 29, was airlifted after being injured in a Thursday morning collision with a utility pole in front of B and G Supply on Highway 70. Smithville police said Tucker was traveling west in a 1990 Ford Ranger when she left the road and ran head-on into the pole. She was transported from the scene by DeKalb EMS, then taken by Life Flight helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Corporal Travis Bryant of the Smithville Police Department investigated the accident. Members of the Smithville Volunteer Fire Department assisted.
