The sheriff’s department has arrested a local woman and charged her with assaulting her mother.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, April Lynn Anderson, 30, was arrested on Oct. 16 after a deputy was dispatched to DeKalb Community Hospital to investigate a domestic disturbance report.
The officer reportedly spoke with a woman who was awaiting treatment at the hospital. She allegedly told him that Anderson, her daughter, kicked her in the stomach and punched her in the ribs and the back of the head.
Ray said the deputy noticed a red mark on the victim's left hand, which the victim said was caused when she covered her head as her daughter was beating her. The injuries were reportedly photographed, and the victim was provided a written statement.
Anderson’s bond was set at $2,500, and she will appear in court on Oct. 30.
Meanwhile, David Shane Hacker, 19, was charged with domestic assault, violation of an order of protection and reckless endangerment on Oct. 16.
The sheriff said a deputy responding to a physical domestic call found Hacker and his ex-girlfriend. The woman allegedly told the officer that Hacker shoved her into a brick wall while she was holding their daughter, causing the child to hit her head on the brick wall, causing a cut on the child’s forehead.
Ray said a check revealed that the victim had an active order of protection against Hacker.
His bond was set at $7,500 and he will apear in court on Oct. 31.
Benjamin Daniel Bell, 30, of Park City, Utah was charged with public intoxication, assault, and resisting arrest on Oct. 20.
According to the sheriff, a deputy was dispatched to check out a report that someone was on top of a water tower on Craft Center Drive.
The deputy reportedly spoke with a security guard who reported that he had made contact with the man who had been on the water tower. The security guard allegedly told the deputy that the man came down from the tower, shoved him, and then took off running.
After a search of the area, the officer allegedly found Bell curled up in a ball, hiding behind a tree. Ray said Bell had a strong odor of alcohol on his person, and was uncooperative.
His bond was set at $6,000, and he will appear in court on Oct. 31.
