Authorities have found a body believed to be that of 35-year-old Aimee McCray of Nashville.
Members of the Smithville-DeKalb and Putnam County Rescue Squads, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, the TWRA, and DeKalb EMS reportedly responded to a missing person call at the Hurricane Marina on Center Hill Lake around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to the TWRA, McCray was reported missing Sunday morning, and was last seen at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night after spending the evening with friends on a houseboat docked at Hurricane Marina.
McCray apparently could not be found Sunday morning, and when friend’s search of the area turned up empty authorities were summoned. Members of the DeKalb County rescue squad located McCray’s body in in approximately 65 feet of water near the boat dock around 3:20 p.m. The Putnam County rescue squad recovered the body.
While TWRA officials said that no foul play was evident, and that it is suspected that McCray accidentally fell from the boat and drowned, an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. The accident is still under investigation.
