Woman injured in collision
wreck mon w sm
A 59-year-old local woman was seriously injured Monday evening when her Oldsmobile left the highway and struck a tree near Hurricane Bridge just after 7 p.m. Trooper Jeremy Wilhite of the Tennessee Highway Patrol told the Review that Belinda Rose Williams was traveling toward Smithville in a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue when she failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the left side of the road and into a tree. Though partially ejected, Williams was partially ejected from the vehicle, but had to be extricated because her foot was stuck under the brake pedal. The DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department's Extrication Team removed the driver’s door and pried the dashboard up to free her.
