Woman killed in one car pile-up

A 75year-old Nashville woman died from injuries suffered in this one car accident on Highway 70 east at about 10:30 Saturday morning, becoming the second traffic fatality of the year in DeKalb County.Gale Link was killed when a 1997 Mazda Miata convertible driven by 56 year-old Eddie Doss, also of Nashville, left the highway and hit a pole.Doss was reportedly traveling east on Highway 70 when he lost control of the Miata.The vehicle left the highway and rolled over, hitting a utility pole top first.A slight rain had reportedly fallen, and a wet highway likely helped bring the collision about.Link was pinned between the pole and the vehicle, trapped in the passenger seat.Three wreckers were used to pull the car carefully away from the pole so she could be extricated.She was taken to the Midway fire station to be picked up by a Life Force helicopter, but her injuries proved to be too serious, and she was taken to DeKalb Community Hospital in an ambulance to be stabilized.She was airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital later, where she expired.Doss was taken to DeKalb Community Hospital, and is not believed to have been seriously injured.Members of the DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department wish to thank DeKalb Tire and Service, JR Motors, and Tim's Truck Service and Towing for their valuable assistance in the extrication of Link from the car.Authorities report no evidence of drugs or alcohol.
