An 83-year-old woman lost her life in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 70 and Allens Ferry Road Monday. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Robbie D. Taylor, 83, died after she pulled into the path of a Chevrolet HHR, driven by 35-year-old Jennifer Buck, which was traveling eastbound on Highway 70. Taylor was driving south in a 2007 Impala, crossing the intersection, when the crash occurred just after 2:30 p.m. Officials said Buck saw Taylor's car crossing the highway into her path and swerved, but was unable to avoid colliding with the vehicle. Buck was transported to DeKalb Community Hospital by DeKalb EMS, where she was treated for a broken arm and other injuries. Taylor was also taken to the local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. THP Sergeant Eric McCormick assisted Trooper Jimmy Tisdale in investigation. Members of the sheriff's department and the DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
