Woman passed out behind wheel charged with meth possession

The sheriff’s department arrested a McMinnville for possession of methamphetamine after allegedly finding her passed out behind the wheel of her vehicle Sunday.

 

Amanda Nicole Wright, 28, faces charges of driving under the influence (second offense), and possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell. She was also issued a citation for driving on a revoked license (second offense).

 

Sheriff Patrick Ray said a deputy responded to the area of Keltonburg Road and McMinnville Highway, where a woman had reportedly been seen passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in the roadway. The officer stopped and woke the driver, who proved to be Wright.

 

She allegedly had an empty 12-ounce can of beer in her lap, and an open container of beer in the cup holder. The deputy detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, her speech was slurred, and she had bloodshot eyes.

 

Wright performed poorly on field sobriety tasks, and she was placed under arrest. A search of her vehicle revealed three small baggies containing a clear crystal substance which tested positive for methamphetamine, and an empty baggie with traces of meth in her purse.

 

Her bond was set at $8,000, and she will appear in court date on Sept. 15.

 

Meanwhile, Eugene Cunningham, 46, was arrested on Aug. 2 and charged with domestic assault.

 

According to the sheriff, Cunningham assaulted his brother by threatening to kill him while aggressively displaying a wooden stick. Cunningham’s actions caused his brother to fear for his life.

 

His bond was set at $5,000, and she will appear in court date on Sept. 1.

 

Jacob James Damon of McMinnville was arrested and charged with burglary and theft of property over $1,000 after an Aug. 3 incident.

 

Sheriff Ray said that Damon broke into and stole a 1991 Nissan pickup truck valued at $1,000. The truck also reportedly contained various items valued at $935 when it was stolen.

 

His bond was set at $10,000, and she will appear in court date on Aug. 18.

 

Sabastian Rosalino Francisco was charged with public intoxication and cited for indecent exposure on Aug. 6.

 

Ray said a deputy on routine patrol on Sparta Highway spotted someone walking in the westbound lane of the roadway. The officer stopped the man, Francisco, and found that he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person, bloodshot eyes, and was unsteady on his feet.

 

Francisco allegedly admitted to having consumed three alcoholic beverages. He was placed under arrest, and while being detained, Francisco reportedly exposed himself to traffic and began to urinate on the side of the road, ignoring the officer’s commands to stop.

 

His bond was set at $1,000, and he will appear in court on Sept. 15.

 

Kenny Wayne Bly, 37, was charged with criminal impersonation and failure to appear in court on Aug. 6.

 

The sheriff said a deputy dispatched to the Dollar General Store on Nashville Highway in reference to reports of a man who was possibly intoxicated man and had left the store in a white Lexus with a small child. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, who advised the deputy that his name was Terry Paul Bly.

 

The man was unable to provide the officer with an accurate Social Security number and date of birth, and further investigation revealed that the man was actually Kenny Wayne Bly. He was placed under arrest.

 

His bonds total $10,000, and he will make a court appearance on August 25.

 

Laura Elizabeth Ball, 34, was charged with interfering with emergency calls on Aug. 6.

 

Ray said a deputy was dispatched to a residence on Nashville Highway in reference to a verbal argument. Before arriving on the scene, central dispatch advised the officer that they had lost contact with the caller.

 

Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the caller, who said that she and her daughter (Ball) had been arguing. When Ball learned her mother had placed a call to law enforcement, Ball took the phone and refused to give it back.

 

Her bond was set at $1,500, and she will appear in court date on Aug. 25.
