A local woman was sentenced in DeKalb County Criminal Court on two counts of child endangerment last week.
Treva June Hartman, 48, was accused of allowing her underage grandchild and four teenage friends to get drunk at a Christmas party at her home last year.
Judge David Patterson sentenced Hartman to two years in each case, to run consecutively for a total of four years.
She will also be on probation, and was ordered to undergo an alcohol and drug assessment and attend parenting classes.
The man accused of bringing the alcohol to the party, 21-year-old Bryan Luke Vollrath, pled guilty to two counts of child abuse/neglect endangerment and was given a two-year sentence in each case to run consecutively for a total of four years, but concurrently with a Van Buren County sentence against him.
He must serve at least 30 percent of the sentence before parole eligibility, and was ordered to undergo an alcohol and drug assessment and follow the recommendations.
The juveniles involved reportedly included a 13-year-old girl, two 15-year-old girls, a 15-year-old boy, and a 17-year-old boy.
Police dispatched to Hartman’s residence on Dec. 22 of last year to investigate a domestic complaint reported finding Hartman and the five juveniles and two adults under age 21 very drunk.
Police said the 13-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy were so intoxicated that they had to be transported to the local emergency room for treatment.
