A woman accused of knowingly allowing her 13-year-old daughter to have sex with a 19-year-old man in her home last summer was sentenced by Judge David Patterson last Tuesday in DeKalb County Criminal Court.
Edna Jeanette Cox, 49, pled guilty to child endangerment, receiving an 11-month, 29-day sentence suspended to supervised probation after serving 10days.
She was ordered to perform 50 hours of community service, and is being considered for judicial diversion probation.
Bryan Thomas Thompson, the man with whom the child was allegedly having sex, is under indictment by the grand jury for the statutory rape.
Cox reportedly allowed Thompson to live in her home in the same room with her daughter, knowing that the two were having sex, even advising them to use protection.
Authorities claimed that Cox was aware that Thompson was wanted in Smith County for having sex with a minor there at the time.
