There will be a few new faces seated next month as a result of four city elections held last Thursday, including the towns of Liberty and Alexandria who will have new mayors.
In Alexandria, Lloyd D. Dyer won over challenger Jana Beth Tripp in the mayor’s race. Dyer received 101 votes to Tripp’s 47. Dyer will take over from Mayor Bennett Armstrong who decided to run for the County Commission in the First District. Curtis J. Rutter received 86 votes to fill an unexpired alderman seat in the town.
For the Liberty election, Audrey M. Martin unseated Incumbent Mayor Jason Hayes Ray, 73 to 58. Five candidates were elected to the Board of Alderman in Liberty, including Kevin R. Mullinax with 98 votes, Joe D. Bratten 91, Ryan Dodd 88, Kendra Stanford 86, and William H. Reynolds, Jr. 80. Derek Johnson lost with 74 votes.
In the Smithville race, Mayor Josh Miller received 805 unopposed votes, while Alderman Beth Chandler won her first full term with a whopping 670 votes. Don Crook was also elected as an alderman with 508 votes, while Rhonda Tiefenauer had only 337 votes.
Dowelltown Alderman Greg Fish ran unopposed and received 51 votes in that election.
