Angel Tree Signups Coming Soon
Angel Tree

The 27th Annual DeKalb County Angel Tree Project will soon be taking applications children wishing to be a part of the program.

Applications must be submitted on Friday, November 5, from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Life Enrichment Center under the carport. There are no exceptions.

“We provide Christmas for the underserved children of DeKalb County through age 12,” said coordinator Laura Stone. “On our applications we have a section for them to fill out with their sizes for clothes, and their special wish for whatever they choose. That can be toys or a special request, or whatever that might be.”

Applicants must be DeKalb County residents, and be no older than age 12 by December 25, 2021. Applicant parents or guardians must bring photo identification and a bill with the correct current DeKalb County address of the person applying. They must also provide social security cards and birth certificates (Mother’s copy is okay) for all children listed on the application.  Guardian paperwork for temporarily placed children is acceptable. Documents are returned to the applicant, only the application is kept. Please make sure you fill out the application as completely and accurately as possible.

If an applicant cannot appear in person, their application can be submitted by someone else as long as all of the required information and documentation is presented. Come prepared with all of the necessary documentation to complete your application between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm on Friday, November 5th. This is the only day that applications will be available and accepted.  No exceptions.

“Starting around the week of Thanksgiving is when we try to have the angels out where they can be adopted,” Stone said. “We’ll have those out at the local banks in Smithville and Alexandria. They can pick an angel or even donate money to the program. If someone doesn’t have time to shop or may not want to get out because of COVID, we’ll be happy to do the shopping for them. Also someone may not know what a particular toy or item is or where to get it. In that case, we’re happy to do the shopping for them.”

Due to continued COVID 19 issues, face coverings are required and social distancing practices will be observed. For additional information please contact Laura Stone (text only please) at 615-464-7135. Remember you only have Friday, November 5th to complete and turn in your application.
