Barnes apprehended after multi-county pursuit
A man led Warren County deputies in a high speed pursuit into DeKalb County last and was arrested after he lost control of his vehicle just outside of city limits.
Terry Ray Barnes, 31, of Rock Island was charged with fabricated evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless endangerment, evading arrest and driving with suspended license.

Midmorning on July 21, Warren County Deputy Jared Jacobs observed a black Pontiac Grand Prix, on the Bypass/Highway 70 in Warren County, and the tags did not match the vehicle. The deputies turned on his blue lights, and the vehicle turned off the highway into the Warren County Tractor Supply parking lot. The drive, Barnes, refused to stop and continued through the parking lot of Citizens Tri-County bank in McMinnville. The vehicle continued through Walgreens parking lot and an unidentified object was thrown out the sunroof in the parking lot. At one point Barnes slammed on the brakes causing Deputy Jacobs’ vehicle to strike the rear end of the Grand Prix. No damage occurred to either vehicle.
Barnes continued on Highway 56 North towards Smithville passing multiple vehicles in his attempt to outrun the officer. The vehicle traveled at speeds of 80-100 miles per hour. Warren County deputies asked for mutual aid as they entered into DeKalb County. The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department joined the pursuit around the Keltonburg Road and the Highway 56 intersection.
DeKalb County Sheriff Patrick Ray, who was ahead of the pursuit, assisted the units in pursuit by slowing the vehicle down on Highway 56 around the area of the WJLE radio station. Just before the Smithville City limits, Barnes attempted a sharp left hand turn onto South College Street where he lost control and pulled into the pathway of Warren County Deputy Jacobs. This caused Barnes’ vehicle to go off the road ending the pursuit, and he was immediately taken into custody.
There was very minimal damage to Deputy Jacobs’ vehicle and no damage to Dekalb County Sheriff's Department vehicles. were damaged in the pursuit. Constable Mark Milam also assisted Warren and DeKalb County officers.
