The Smithville Review has been DeKalb County’s local news source since 1892. Thru hard times, bad times and many, many fads the staff of the Review has continued to supply local news, sports and community news to its readers. But, what you may not know is your local newspaper is much more than just a newspaper.
The digital age has only enhanced what your local newspaper can bring to you. The Review’s web site www.smithvillereview.com has a tremendous amount of additional stories, photos and items of interest in addition to its printed pages. As a print subscriber, all of these extra features on the website are free to access. Our new app has also recently been released. The free app can be downloaded from the app store or Google Play and take you directly to our site.
In addition to your regular weekly paper, several times throughout the year the Review publishes special tabloids to highlight our local sports teams, health and wellness and a variety of other topics. These special publications are included in your weekly issues.
Something you may not know is your local newspaper publishes magazines as well. These can be found throughout the community at high traffic convenience stores, welcome centers near the interstate and various businesses. These complimentary magazines, not only professionally designed and esthetically appealing, are enjoyed by many visitors to our area.
“Life at Center Hill Lake & the Upper Cumberland Region” is bi-yearly publication which includes a variety of feature stories, places to stay, play and eat, along with advertisements from everything from pet grooming to house boat repair and maintenance. With thousands of copies distributed in and around DeKalb County, the Review is able to reach more potential visitors. The two issues of 2020 received rave reviews, and the 2021 issues, to be published in May and August, are expected to achieve even higher ratings as we reach out into the Upper Cumberland area.
The newest, and highly anticipated, magazine will make its debut in June 2021. Already in the works “In my Father’s House” will be a spiritual guide to DeKalb County places of worship and include such things as a guide to reading the bible within a year, daily bible verses, feature stories, and Sunday dinner recipes along with other interesting and useful information. This is also a new platform for area churches to reach a wider area of people as the magazine will makes its way within and outside of the county. The staff at the Review is ecstatic to be able to bring such a delightful publication to everyone.
Were you aware that your local weekly newspaper covered so much ground? Amazing isn’t it?
Be sure to download our new app, watch for our new magazines in 2021 and check the web site daily for things that may not be in the print product.
