Smithville police arrested and cited several over the past couple of weeks. Included in the police department’s crime report:
Ashley Nichole Mayo, 31, was cited for Driver License Violation, Light Law, Financial Responsibility, Unregistered Vehicle, and Simple Possession. Mayo was stopped for a head light violation and a computer check revealed that her license was suspended in 2005. The vehicle was not registered and she couldn’t provide proof of insurance. During the traffic stop the officer asked and was informed that there was an illegal substance in the vehicle. Upon search, 1.3 grams of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana was found
Jeffery Odell Tisdale, 47, was cited for Passing a School Bus.Tisdale did pass a DeKalb County school bus unloading children while the lights and stop sign was out. This did occur on W. Broad St in front of Church of God.
Wayne Allen Stock, 47, of Quebeck was arrested for Driving on Revoked 4th. During a routine traffic stop, the officer made contact with Stock who was found to be operating a vehicle without a valid license. Confirmation through Central Dispatch revealed that his license was revoked for DUI in 2003. He also had three prior Driving on Revoked convictions in 2010 and 2018.
Johnny Wayne Trapp, 62, was arrested for Public Intoxication. Upon routine patrol, police noticed Trapp walking on the side of Allen Ferry Road. Trapp looked to be unsteady on his feet and upon stopping and speaking with Trapp, the officer noticed him to have slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. The officer was informed that Trapp had had a lot to drink and was taken into custody for his and the public’s safety.
Perry D Ziegler, 58, of Illinois was arrested for Domestic Assault. According to the warrant: Ziegler did assault a family member by striking her on her arms, neck, and head area. The victim’s clothing was ripped and Ziegler appeared to have blood on his chin believed to belong to the victim. Police were informed that Ziegler went outside and the victim attempted to lock him out but he forced his way back into the residence. The door frame had been busted and the kitchen had obvious signs that an altercation had occurred. Ziegler was determined to be the primary aggressor and taken into custody without incident.
Cody Dale Cagle, 26, of McMinnville was cited for Drug Paraphernalia. Police responded to a male subject, identified as Cagle asleep or passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle at Mapco. A computer check with Central Dispatch revealed that his license are suspended and a search of the vehicle revealed a clear tube typically used for smoking methamphetamine wrapped in tissue lying beside the driver’s seat where Cagle was sitting.
Candice Suzanne Bates, 37, of McMinnville was arrested for DUI and Implied Consent. Police responded to Shiroki Manufacturing for a woman blocking the entrance. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the female found to be Bates who advised him that her tire was flat. The officer could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle. The officer asked if she had been drinking and was informed that she had not. She was then asked to perform some field sobriety tasks and became disorderly to the point the officer had to detain her. She was asked to perform a breathalyzer test to which she refused at which time she was taken into custody for DUI. Bates refused to provide a blood sample so a Blood Search Warrant was issued and she was taken to the ER for the blood draw. While at the jail for booking the officer presented her with an Implied Consent citation in which she refused to sign at which time the officer obtained a warrant for Implied Consent.
Terry Ray Holbrooks, 55, of Lebanon was arrested for DUI and cited for Driving on Revoked and Implied Consent. Police observed an individual operating a vehicle at night without the headlights on in the rain. The officer initiated a traffic stop at the red light by Wal-Mart and the vehicle continued and stopped in the parking lot of Wal-Mart. Upon making contact with the driver found to be Holbrooks, the officer could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle. The driver was slow to speak and had glossy eyes and rambling about his time in the military. He was asked to perform some field sobriety tasks and to give a blood sample to which he refused. A computer check through Central Dispatched revealed that he has two prior DUI charges in 2016.
