Weather sure has been unusual this winter. From dandelions in January in our yard, to burning bushes greening up, to the hydrangeas leaving out, it seems more like spring-time than winter-time.
Surely we will get back to colder temperatures and stay that way for a while to kill out some of those pesky insects we don’t like.
It may just be me, but it seems like this New Year 2016 is speeding right on by us, as it is now halfway through the month of January. I have been told that time flies by quicker as you get older. I would rather think that we are working so hard that we don’t notice a trivial thing like that happening.
On Sunday night, January 31, at the Smithville Church of God there will be a night of singing and praise and worship as members of the congregation show their singing talent. Try to come out, as I know you will be blessed.
We have some people we need to uplift in prayer: Mai Nell Melton, (in the loss of her daughter Kathy Martin), also Carlon Melton, (Mai Nell’s Husband), Chloe Evelyn Bogle, Fay Pitts, Ruth Brown, Tracy Neal, Luther Lawrence, Edith Miller, and Denise Stanton, also Norris and Bobbye Harrison.
Ruth Brown got a good report from her doctor in Nashville on Tuesday. Also, Ruth has a new great-grandson, Roman Montague Reed. He weighed 4 pounds and eight ounces, and is doing just fine. Proud parents are Colby and Monica Reed.
Winter weather is finally arriving here at the mountain, and everyone is trying to stay indoors as much as possible to keep warm.
Frigid temperatures now seem to be the norm for us. This morning ice, sleet, and snow closed every school around these parts. If it doesn’t change, weather forecasters are predicting quite a bit more of the fluffy stuff for Friday into Saturday morning.
There will be a period of heavy rainfall before colder weather engulfs us to give us all that snow several inches are possible. The snow that was falling here this morning even though it didn’t last all that long was it ever a beautiful sight as there were some larger snowflakes that were falling in among the smaller ones.
How I marveled at such a spectacular winter scene from our patio door that you would normally see on a Christmas card or a painting. The mountain is such a wonderful place to be at really anytime of the year.
Be sure to come out to the Smithville Church of God on Sunday evening, Jan. 31 for an evening of singing and worship to the Lord. Members of the congregation that are very talented will be singing. I know you will be blessed for sure.
Please keep these people on your prayer list: Norris and Bobbye Harrison, Luther Lawrence, Ruth Brown, Fay Pitts, Tracy Neal, Denise Stanton, and Chloe Evelyn Bogle.
