Joseph "Joey" Scott Barnes, 41, of Smithville died Friday at his residence.

He was a member of the New Union The Baptist Church.

The funeral was held Monday, May 23 at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.

Bernard Houk officiated, with burial following in the Webb Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Davis Barnes, Sr.

Survivors include his son, Colby Davis Barnes; mother, Billie Ann Baker and husband Glenn; brothers, Johnny Wayne Barnes and wife Abbie all of Smithville; Johnny Davis Barnes, Jr. and wife Shelly of Alexandria. A sister, Shanta Jones of Carthage. Nieces, Ripley Anne Barnes of Alexandria, Kalee Castro and nephew, Dylan Castro both of Carthage. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Relay for Life.

Pallbearers included: Melvin Knowles, Carl Wayne Knowles, Ricky Smotherman, Eddie Ray, David Kilgore, and Marty Davis.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, was in charge of the arrangements.
