Opal Gladys Manis Skeen, 92, of Byrdstown passed away Tuesday, July 19 at NHC Healthcare in Smithville.

 

She was born September 1, 1923 to the late Benton and Lona Pritchard Manis.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Skeen; one son, Bobby Skeen; one sister, Elsie Phillips; one grandson, James Casey Reagan.

 

Ms. Skeen was a graduate of Pickett County High School and a retired employee at Star Point Dock.

 

She loved Bowling, playing Bingo and making quilts.

 

Survivors include one daughter, Carol (George) Storie of Smithville; two sons, Michael (Carol) Skeen and Larry (Judy) Matheny both of Muncie, Indiana; one sister, Leva Hardcastle of Little Rock; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Randy Tompkins officiated with burial following in Beaty Cemetery.
