A school bus and a tractor trailer suffered minor damage this morning (Sept. 3) after an accident on Highway 70 East near the Am vets Club.

According to Trooper Sean Tramel of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the driver’s side mirror of bus number 08-26, driven by 34-year-old Shara Cowan of Smithville and the driver’s side mirror of the semi, driven by 52-year-old Jeffery Stoglin of Sparta both made contact, breaking both mirrors and shattering the window glass near the driver’s compartment of the bus. Stoglin was piloting a tanker truck full of plastic pellets to Murfreesboro for Atlantic Bulk Carrier.

Cowan and Stoglin were escaped serious injury in the incident. The bus, on its way to start its route, held two passengers, both Cowan’s children, who were also uninjured.

The accident remains under investigation by the THP.
