A rash of disappearing golf carts was resolved recently after a DeKalb County Sherriff’s Office detective took out petitions for six area juveniles who had been taking the carts from a nursery off Four Seasons on joy rides.According to Sherriff Patrick Ray, reports of missing golf carts on July 15, July 17 and Sept. 4 led to the detective discovering the carts weren’t stolen but taken for rides instead.No names have been released for the six minors who were remanded to appear at the DeKalb County Juvenile Court last week charged with committing a delinquent act of joy riding.DeKalb County police arrest Howard as co-conspirator in trailer thefts.Jared Reshun Howard, 28, of Sparta, is charged with theft of property over $1,000 and for failure to appear on a criminal charge for a worthless check. Accordinf to sheriff’s department reports, on 10 Sept. the department received a report that someone had stolen a 6 x 12-foot utility trailer from a residence on Big Hurricane Road, valued at $1,200. A detective was assigned to the case and developed Howard and 52-year-old Bruce Randall Bumbalough, also of Sparta, as suspects.
