Water treatment plant nears completion

The Smithville Water Plant rehabilitation could be completed by July or August.The rehab project includes the installation of new electrical breaker boxes, new storage tanks, new high service pumps, a new chlorinator, new liquid fluoride feeder system, a new stand-by generator, new automated water filter control panel and many other improvements"To date, the city has spent $1,609,080 out of our money on the water plant renovation,” said Mayor Taft Hendrixson at Monday night’s Smithville City Council meeting. “The CDBG block grant money spent is $300,674. That brings the total to $1,909,754 that has been spent on the water plant.
